Liatris Floristan Violet
Floristan Violet is stunning Gayfeather with tall spikes of pinkish-purple flowers and dark bracts creating a bicolor vertical interest in the perennial border or butterfly garden. Also known as Blazing star Liatris spicata is a tall upright herbaceous perennial native to moist low grounds meadows and marsh margins. Liatris spicata does well in summer heat and humidity blooming in the middle of the summer. Plants blooms with vertical spikes 6-12 inch long of rounded fluffy of feathery flower heads where it gets his common name- gayfeather. Liatris prefers moist but well-drained soils and full sun. Keep away from wet soils in winter. Use in perennial borders or as native plant in butterfly and cottage gardens....
